Sign Up for VT Alerts by Desktop Notification
To subscribe to VT Alerts through desktop notifications, download the software. To receive alerts from Virginia Tech using this software, you must be logged in to your computer and be connected to the internet. Users are subject to the conditions of use.
For instructions on how to install the application, click on the operating system used by your computer, listed below.
Must be running Windows XP, Vista, or 7.
Installation instructions:
- Download the .exe file.
- Double-click the downloaded file to launch the installer. Depending on the version of Windows you’re using, you may be prompted to allow the installer to run.
- The installer will guide you through the process of completing installation.

Must be running Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard), or 10.7 (Lion). Universal binary supports Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs.
Installation instructions:
- Download the disk image (.dmg) file.
- If your browser does not automatically mount the disk image, find the .dmg file in your Downloads folder and double-click the icon to mount it.
- Double-click the desktop alerts disk icon on the desktop to open the downloaded image.
- Double-click the desktop alerts package icon in the folder to launch the installer.
- The installer will guide you through the process of completing installation.
